"A WORKING CLASS HERO IS SOMETHING TO BE"; HENRY WINSTON
Above a John Lennon song I featured on a previous post.
Will link to it again, at the bottom.
The working class hero to which I refer, however, IN MY/THIS POST, being a former CPUSA CHAIR HENRY WINSTON.
I thought I would feature Winston BECAUSE, probably, few, or, less people here AND/OR ABROAD AT THIS POINT are aware of Winston whereas, for example, many still MAY recall someone like Paul Robeson because Robeson had a greater international career, presence, as performer, athlete, singer, proficient in multiple languages, in addition to his politics.
AND the reason, among others, I decided to highlight Winston TODAY, NOW, being a very timely and famous quote AFTER Winston wound up losing his eye sight as a consequence of imprisonment during the 1950s McCarthy anti-Communist witch hunt, purges, hysteria.
That being:
"They robbed me of my sight BUT NOT MY VISION!"
He WAS, indeed, a very powerful man giving meaning to Lennon's song.
For those unfamiliar with Winston, ONE link below out of many possible sources from which you can pursue for further reading.
