Why there's no Left in the US and other notes

Recently, a friend gave me the 2005 summer issue of a quarterly magazine published by the national AFT union (American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO), received by the many thousands who are members of this national union. 

The glossy front cover of the quarterly publication reads: 

"Building A Union, Toppling Communism," subtitled, 

"The Story of Polish Solidarity--and How the AFL-CIO Aided its Victory." 

I have NOT read it yet. 

Why haven't I read it yet? 

The best reason I can give is to compare it to asking me/you/one to shove your face into a pile of excrement. 

Needless to say, there's an element of avoidance in that prospect. 

But, the title speaks for itself, without reading it.

I invite others to happily shove themselves into this pile of excrement if they so wish.
Of course, this is not an aberration, but, a continuation of American policy, shades of Jay Lovestone, for many years the international arm of the AFL-CIO. 

Lovestone received honorable mention from the Hoover Institute after his death, which I've previously e-mailed. 

And, of course, as I've mentioned so many times, the AFT (and the AFL-CIO, in general) is/was represented on the Board of Freedom House also.
