I thought I would add a political, but, personal note on the preceding subject matter, since it reflects ALL occurring elsewhere and here.
I can't help watching NYC's most recent, pathetic sanitation department's LOUSY, disastrous response, debacle, to snow removal, preparation, emergency services, airports, etc., etc., and reflect on it abit.
ALL is a consequence of REDUCED, GUTTED, DEMORALIZED, SKELETON CITY PUBLIC SERVICES!!
Once upon a time, NYC had the nation's BEST and LARGEST PUBLIC SYSTEMS, that being PLURAL.
ACCOUNTABLE AND PROUD!!
NYC Sanitation Dept being but one amongst many other City departments, including FREE, CITY medical, public health system, library system, FREE HIGHER EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, fire and emergency services, rent controlled apartments, welfare assistance, subsidized arts, cultural, educational institutions, museums, etc. and so on.
THAT is why NYC ranked amongst the world's finest, first class places to live.
A WORKING CLASS from the entire world CAME, LIVED, SURVIVED, STAYED AND ENRICHED NYC in ways too rich and many for me to itemize.
A history unto itself.
Despite areas of glamor and glitz, which, by the way, immigrant and native labor helped build and construct, NYC was, first and foremost, inhabited and defined by a LARGE, diverse, ethnic and native immigrant background working class population.
Of course, now, all that has not already been privatized, no doubt, will become so.
NYC has become, is now, a FIRST CLASS WORLD PIECE OF GARBAGE, JUNK, SHIT, a STEADY EROSION downwards for some time, a shadow of its former self.
It is a world CLASS GHETTO, playground, for the famous, rich and wealthy mostly all living in Manhattan and the rest be damned.

Snow removal being but the latest episode in this most sordid, sad, turbid tale and saga.
NYC is DEAD, experiencing a long, protracted decay for some time now as a consequence of these policies.

A XMAS/HOLIDAY MESSAGE...

I will link to something BELOW which expresses fairly well what and/or how I FEEL in terms of CONTRAST and Xmas.
First, a brief explanation.
I always detested RITUALISTIC holidays and events of all kinds.
Does not matter which or what ritual it be.
By nature, definition, collective RITUAL most often is a mindless and oppressive exercise to me.
Nothing spontaneous about it.
The opposite.
Theoretically, here, supposedly, we do NOT live in a Christian nation and separation of Church and State exists in our most glorified, vaulted Constitution.
In reality, of course, the opposite exists.
Xmas is stinking oppressive, commercialized, "family" oriented and ALMOST EVERYTHING shuts down, "normal," everyday life grinds to a halt while our CHRISTIAN religious celebrations and schedule dominates everyone and everything, whether or not one likes or agrees with it/them.
Christian culture, song, entertainment, etc., on TV, radio, stores and so on.
FOR ME, personally, something always manage to go terribly wrong over "holidays," emergencies of all sorts and kinds occur, nothing can be done or fixed about it/them until the fucking, damned holidays are OVER, FINISHED, since it/they now extend into New Year's as well.
An entire week or ten days of celebration before "normality," that is, everyday life resumes.
An artificially contrived IMPOSITION on EVERYONE for NO real, good purpose whatsoever.
Since Jesus supposedly suffered for YOUR sins, not mine, I suppose such suffering imposed upon me by Christian hands will help redeem my Soul.
In addition to personal annoyance and imposition, comes political and economic contrast, juxtaposition.
I am FORCED to hear altruistic Xmas philosophy, jargon, and feel good mythological theology superimposed onto a REAL world here and abroad which is its very antithesis.
Hypocrisy, propaganda, brainwashing routinely occur and are mind boggling.
But, overlapping an additional layer of inescapable, RITUALISTIC Christian holidays, inconvenience, onto my life, personally, simply becomes insufferable and unbearable.
Instead of feel good, it induces in me nothing but rage, depression, anger, frustration, indignation and impotence.
Indeed, Christianity predicated upon suffering lives up to its name.
I can only hibernate and wait until the hypocritical piranha feeding frenzy exhausts itself.
People get very distressed when saying something to me about Xmas, whatever it may be, and I respond negatively!
Often times, I don't bother responding at all.
It is not worth it, since this nation is one of sheep, suckers, assholes, idiots anyway.
So, all do your rituals, freeze to death, get stuck in blizzards, weather, storms, whatever.
Shop until you drop and hopefully all will drop soon, possibly while shopping and/or traveling.

Iraq and Middle East/North Africa/South Asia (MENASA) PRIVATIZATION, EMERGING MARKETS ARE ONE AND THE SAME objective as Greece, except, of course, a US military invasion along with IRAN intervened DIRECTLY to OCCUPY, overthrow and dismantle Iraq's government, constitution, state, military, labor unions and all forms of organized resistance.

Every single one of them says something customary about the usual shibboleth, Israel and Palestine.
Neither Israel nor Palestine DETERMINE the power equation and outcome of this PRIVATIZATION juggernaut AND, furthermore, IF you REALLY care about either Israel or Palestine, then, YOU CARE ABOUT THE ABOVE.
It is as if I found ONLY Greece and/or Portugal on a European map, while completely ignoring GERMANY, FRANCE, SPAIN, ITALY or the remainder of the European continent.
It is incredulous, remarkable to me.
So, let me say, warn, advise, here, there and everywhere, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!
Every gain you think you make, subsequently, ultimately, will BE NEGATED, OVERTURNED, BY success, or, lack thereof, outcome, of the "EMERGING MARKETS" PRIVATIZATION battle represented by those above, as was/is case the case in the STRATEGIC, FORMER USSR.
All else is a Pyrrhic victory, a DEFENSIVE, but, NOT OFFENSIVE, strategic holding pattern.
