Finally, I thought I would end on something abit more inspiring and a commemoration.
Only 3 days following the traumatic events of 9/11/2001, a bill authorizing military action in Afghanistan RUSHED, SAILED through the US Congress.
IRAQ, of course, followed shortly thereafter.
Out of 435 members of our lower US Congressional House of Representatives PLUS another 100 of the upper US Senate, ONLY ONE, LONE individual Congressional representative out of 534 others VOTED NO, AGAINST Afghan military action.
534 to 1.
That ONE being California Democratic Representative Barbara LEE.
Whatever her reasons, whether or not sophisticated, simply voting NO against a rushing stampede, a tsunami tidal wave of pressure, took enormous principle, stamina, courage, conviction.
She can sleep well at night and retire WITH HER ONE VOTE.
That does NOT mean she is/was correct in all her positions.
But, this ONE PRINCIPLED ACT/VOTE and its subsequent consequences solidifies her place in history:
