It represents unpaid, time consuming, work, a labor of love or fear, depending on which way one looks at it.
So, her contribution can NOT be UNDER or OVER estimated.
With above caveat in mind, again, I remind everyone MUCH history, context, exists for the MOST PART, NOT understood, intentionally, of course.
The present does/did NOT arise spontaneously out of thin air.

NOW we have virtual, electronic, reality, A/I, addictive stupid devices, concentration camps, slave labor, surveillance, as opposed to buildings, prisons, torture, gas chambers, overt physical coercion, MURDER, INC.
This most MODERN, or, latest, latter day, REINCARNATION, represents ongoing MORBIDITY, death cults, NAZI pathology, INSANITY, its predecessors.
It really reflects pathetic, SYSTEMIC, desperation, implosion, internal combustion, genocidal intensification, cannibalistic exploitation, further expropriation, perpetual militarism, colonialism, and, on.
This SYSTEM IS AN HISTORICAL ARTIFACT and MUST BE VIEWED THRU THAT LENS, PRISM.
A morbid, parasitic, zombie, vampire, wandering Planet Earth.
As to money replacement, tokens, etc., also mentioned below, again, modern variant of old themes.
One example ONLY being early U.S. industrial, mining, natural resource extraction, towns encompassing company stores in which wage slaves, labor, HAD to shop--imprisoned on every possible level, including so-called housing owned by SAME PRIVATE CAPITAL exploiting them.
Something called "script" also existed at various times.
The ONLY difference between wage and outright slavery, human bodies could NOT be LEGALLY sold, traded.
Instead, their added labor value became abstractly measured by time, or, other means.
Fine distinctions, further abstractions.
Wealth creation, REAL VALUE ADDED, USE VALUE, growing ever more obscure, disembodied, mysterious, ALIENATED, a MARXIST concept.

ALL are products, DEPENDENTS, both of an ARTIFICIALLY MANUFACTURED SOCIAL as well as natural ENVIRONMENT, one dependent upon the other, intertwined.
