As for Alice's latest Adventures in United Suckers and Assholes NAZI Dictatorship Wonderland, BP's gusher TENUOUSLY remains capped.
NOBODY breaths a sigh of relief.
Everyone holds their breath waiting for the next shoe to drop.
One need only comprehend the simple ENORMITY of pressure exerted from deep beneath the earth's mantel, crust AND total darkness in which robot machinery operates one mile or so beneath the ocean surface to comprehend the complex engineering to be maintained.
NOTHING ASSURED, NOTHING GUARANTEED.
Nature's variable, extraordinary, explosive, catastrophic force and pressure overwhelms the best laid plans of mice and men.
Such insane deep water drilling projects should NEVER, EVER have been allowed to occur in the first place ANYWHERE on the globe.
BP currently owns approximately 600 out of roughly 5000 or so ALL PRIVATELY OWNED Atlantic Gulf oil/gas wells.
Of course, often, they partner with others in a consortium, as in the case of BP's current crude oil gushing project.
NOT one out of all 5000 or so wells PUBLICLY is owned, nationalized, despite the fact all offshore water nominally is declared FEDERAL PROPERTY!
It's just one big fat in your face farce, joke.
What convoluted, twisted, circular logic is it FIRST to lease FREE PUBLIC waters and natural resources to private development, then, collect back from those very same private corporations nominal 'royalties," tax, from PROFITABLE sale of those resources and then give back to those same corporations more PUBLIC TAX ABATEMENT'S OF ALL SORTS AND KIND while simultaneously calling for more government regulation of the very same private industries leased in the first place???
If you scratch your head at this twisted, convoluted scheme, you are correct.
When a CATASTROPHE does occur DUE TO PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT it is, after all, the FEDERAL, NATIONAL government that comes to the aid, rescue, in more ways than one, with a vast array of RESOURCES.
We have an armada of national scientific, technical and engineering advisers, teams, skilled personnel, vessels, sophisticated, elaborate equipment, people, air power, radar, skimming vessels, etc., all amassed at the Gulf to deal with ONE MAN MADE natural catastrophe that NEVER, EVER should have occurred in the first place.
Their motto: privatize profits and gain, socialize debt and loss.
Our Atlantic Gulf of Mexico should be rechristened ATLANTIC PRIVATE OIL AND GAS GULF/LAKE/SEA.
I will not bother discussing SIMILAR processes occurring in Alaska and elsewhere, other industries, resources, etc.
